The water from the taps is very high in mineral content, so it is not advisable to drink this – but you can use it for brushing your teeth/bathing. Bottled water is available very cheaply in Turkey and our local supermarkets (Azda, Sok or one of the independent supermarkets) stock a variety of bottle sizes (from 500ml to 20 litres) and prices start at 1TL per small bottle, up to about 4TL for a 5 litre bottle (this size will fit in the fridge, larger bottles may have to be left out in the kitchen). We also have a water machine which houses a 20 litre bottle of water. There is a telephone number on the water machine where they will deliver a new bottle of 20 litre water and take the empty bottle away. The cost for the new 20 litre water bottle to be delivered is around 20 TL.
